Rolling Cups

These are some simple multi-media resources to support the Classroom Challenge lesson Modeling Motion: Rolling Cups.

You will also need the complete set of print materials for this lesson, which can be found here.

The resources comprise:

A task-setting image showing a collection of glasses and cans: which one will roll in the largest circle?
A short video showing each object being rolled
A simple "calculator" to predict the rolling radius of cups.

The resources require a modern web browser with JavaScript enabled.

This requires a reasonably fast Internet connection.

Download the materials as a ".zip" file. The resources still run in a web browser, but do not rely on an Internet connection.

PC Users Right-click on the .zip file and choose "Extract all". Then open the folder "rolling_cups" and double-click on "Start".

Mac users Double-click on the download to unpack it. Then open the folder "rolling_cups" and double-click on "Start".

You might want to copy the downloaded files to a memory stick or a school Intranet.
